Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?
My mom made spaghetti and meatballs once a week. Now that I have the exact recipe, I only get to eat it about twice a year. I love it, but my husband isn’t a fan.
Mom specifically would make it every February 14 for Valentines because it was the only red food she knew how to make. When we had it, she would only give each of us two meatballs. It made it possible to spread one batch of meatballs into two dinners. We always had garlic bread with it.
My husband doesn’t like it because it also reminds him of being a kid. However for him, his family ate it quite a bit more. It was an inexpensive, easy meal to make, so he was over the meal.
I may have to make this meal again now that I’ve thought about it this much. I miss it.
