Tuesday Talley and Complete Exhaustion

Had my follow-up appointment with my doctor today, and I’m happy to share that she’s genuinely pleased with my progress! My prescription’s been upped, which I’m taking as a good sign of things moving in the right direction. I’m officially down 10.2 pounds, and I’m feeling pretty good about it!

But let me tell you, I’m still wiped out. My kid, Dais, decided she didn’t want to go to bed right away . She was up until midnight – yep, midnight.

Our bedtime routine started out pretty normal. We read three or four books (including her favorite, Harold Loves His Woolly Hat), and I tucked her in all snug in her bed. For about three minutes, it seemed we were in the clear…until the screaming started. I checked the camera, only to find Dais had flicked on her lights and was sitting cross-legged in the middle of the room, yelling for “Ma Ma!”

So, I trudged back in, turned the lights off, and tried to settle her down. She insisted I stay, so I caved and laid down on her floor. As I laid there contemplating life and the universe, she played with her Bluey nightlight. Eventually, the floor got to me, so I scooted over to the dog bed – it’s memory foam, don’t judge – and tried to get comfortable.

Then came the moment she crawled out of her bed and tried to join me on the dog bed. That was a no-go, so after some back-and-forth negotiations, she finally returned to her bed, and we both got some rest. I slipped out like a very quiet, very tired mouse, hoping for at least a few solid hours in my own bed.

Fast forward to 7 a.m. – I’m jolted awake by her screaming again. She’s pointing at the dog bed, where I’d left my pillow, absolutely furious that I’d bailed.

So, while I ended up with almost six hours of sleep, I’m not sure how “restful” it was. But it’s okay. I would stay up every minute of the day if she needed me to.
