A Visit from the Veterinarian Followed by Contemplation

A Visit from the Veterinarian Followed by Contemplation

The vet came and went. She has an awesome game plan. She made me feel so much better about my grumpy old man, Rex. She completely understood his condition, and for the first time in a while, I felt like a weight had been lifted. I hadn’t seen her since before my old man Goose Continue reading

    Twinges of the Heart

I’m a little nervous. I keep having these random, sharp chest pains—not constant, but definitely noticeable. Part of me wonders if I’m just being paranoid, but the other part is freaking the hell out. I just realized I never heard back from the cardiologist and, honestly, kind of forgot about it. I’ll be calling my Continue reading

    Grouchy Tuesday Tally

    Grouchy Tuesday Tally

Well, I’ve officially hit a plateau in my weight loss journey, and it’s frustrating. This is the third week I’ve been stuck at the same weight. I’ve been meticulous about logging my food to ensure I’m eating enough—but not too much. I think the best plan is to start working out twice a day. I Continue reading

    More Backyard Dreams

I’ve been thinking about my backyard a lot lately—maybe a little too much. It’s turning into an obsession, and I’m struggling to resist the urge to spend all my money on making it perfect. After countless spreadsheets and some quality time with a tape measure, I think I’ve finally figured out the layout. Instead of Continue reading

A Blank Slate with Big Dreams

A Blank Slate with Big Dreams

The backyard is officially cleaned up and looking fantastic! The guys did an amazing job—it’s truly a blank slate now. I can’t stop thinking about all the possibilities, and I’m so excited! As you can see in the above after photograph, there’s still one pallet along the West fence and a couple of garden boxes Continue reading

    Delay Due to Wasps

    Delay Due to Wasps

The backyard clean-up didn’t happen today. The crew was delayed by a previous job, and just as they arrived, they were immediately dive-bombed by wasps. Apparently, the little jerks (the wasps, not the yard guys) decided today was the perfect time to wake up. After a quick inspection of both the front and back yards, Continue reading

    Another Tuesday Tally!

    Another Tuesday Tally!

Almost another week down! I haven’t lost any weight at this stage, but my last weigh-in was on Wednesday. Technically, I still have another day before my official weekly check-in, but I’d rather get back to weighing in on Tuesdays. Still no word from the cardiologist who was supposed to reach out about my low Continue reading

Lessons for My Daughter: Trust Your Gut

Lessons for My Daughter: Trust Your Gut

When I was 12, a guest speaker visited my Physical Education class. I was in seventh grade, and she was there to teach the girls basic self-defense. Before demonstrating any moves, she gave us some critical advice. She told us that if we could help it, we should never let someone touch us—because once they Continue reading

    Daily Prompt 15

    Daily Prompt 15

What tattoo do you want and where would you put it? I have a scar on my bicep that is slowly fading. I want to put a star or something around it to highlight and save the spot before it’s gone completely. It’s where my dog accidentally bit me. He was the other half of Continue reading

    A Pink Pony Day

This morning started like any other with my daughter. I handed her the usual morning cup of milk and then set out on the daily mission of figuring out what she might actually eat. Last night, she watched Raya and the Last Dragon with her dad, so naturally, that’s what she wanted to watch again first thing Continue reading

About Me

I’m on a mission to live a healthier life– for myself and my daughter. In recent years I’ve struggled with my weight, anxiety and the tendency to avoid leaving the house when possible.

After years of attempting to solve my weight issue, I have been prescribed a weight-loss medication. Contrary to common misconceptions, this is not a simple solution. Lifestyle changes are a must and I am still working hard through home exercise and diet changes. I hope to show it’s possible to make these changes without a gym membership or any fad-gadgets.

I want to further my journey by facing my anxiety head-on and making an effort to enjoy the world again. I have found myself staying in at all costs. I rarely leave the house outside of going to work everyday. Things have got to change.

My hope is that my story inspires others to prioritize self-care and living life to the fullest.
